What is the mission?

Our mission is to ensure that families in need have an adequate supply of diapers for their infants and toddlers and to provide resources that support healthy childhood development

Why is this important?

Diaper Facts:

  • Diapers are not covered by “Safety Net” programs such as WIC (the federal nutrition grant program for Women, Infants and Children) or food stamps.

  • Diapers can cost up to .50 cents each, depending on the size and where they are purchased. (The average
    newborn uses 8 per day).

  • The average cost for a year of diapers is $1,000.00.

  • Disposable diapers are normally provided by the parents of children attending day care centers. Not being able to supply an adequate number of diapers can make it difficult for a parent to go to work.

A shortage of diapers can lead to serious consequences:

  • Children wearing diapers for too long, or parents trying to clean and reuse disposable diapers puts children at risk for staph and other infections.

  • If a family doesn’t have clean diapers to provide for their children, a child could spend even days at a time in the same dirty diaper.

  • A crying baby is more likely to be a victim of child abuse.

  • A wet baby sleeps poorly and cries at night, and so a tired parent or older sibling has further difficulties at work and at school.
